The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Academic Research Building links to the neighboring building and features four floors of academic and research space, a first floor atrium, and a meeting place for students that converts to accommodate social gatherings. The monumental stairs consisted of two curved, cantilevered stairs, stacked to give the appearance of a 24-foot diameter double helix. The stairs were fabricated with steel plate, laminated glass, and stainless-steel handrail with LED lighting.
